Safeguarding

Bridge Academy fully recognises the responsibility it has under section 175 (Section 157 for Independent Schools and Academies) of the Education Act 2002 to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and, in doing so, have regard to any guidance issued by the Secretary of State. This includes arrangements to take all reasonable measures to ensure that risks of harm to children's welfare are minimised and take appropriate actions to address concerns about the welfare of a child.

Through their day-to-day contact with pupils and direct work with families, staff at the Academy have a crucial role to play in noticing indicators of possible abuse or neglect and referring them to Children’s Social Care via the Milton Keynes Council Referral Hub (Designated Person for Child Protection to refer).

The Child Protection Policy sets out how the academy's governing body discharges its statutory responsibilities relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are pupils at the school. Our policy applies to all staff, paid and unpaid, working in the school including governors, teaching assistants, support and admin staff, as well as teachers can be the first point of disclosure for a child.  Concerned parents/carers may also contact the school and its governors.

It is consistent with the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) procedures.
